Primitive Asmat Wood Statue, Yoga

Handcarved with manual tools from local albesia wood, the artisan has skillfully captured the intense expression in this statue of an Asmat man practicing yoga.  The Asmat tribe resides in rainforests off the coast of Papau, Indonesia and has been cut off from the world until recent years.

There may be some hairline cracks and some inconsistency of color...this is a common characteristic of a handmade product and does not affect its durability.
